After a unique sailing experience in the Dardanelles Strait, L'Austral will head towards Bozcaada, a tranquil haven renowned since ancient times for the fruit of its vines. With its charming, cobbled streets, the island reveals a fine combination of Greek and Turkish influences and offers many opportunities to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea.

Head for the Dodecanese islands, at the crossroads of the Orient and the Occident. You will also fall under the spell of charming Patmos. Known as the 'Jerusalem of the Aegean Sea'. This island, where Saint John is said to have written the Apocalypse, offers unique landscapes combining white sandy beaches and rocky coves. The beautiful neoclassical houses surrounded by vineyards, olive trees and cypresses make Symi one of the most beautiful islands in the archipelago.

In the south-eastern Aegean Sea, the Cyclades archipelago invites you to enjoy the wild and appealing beauty of its islands. Amorgos, the easternmost Cyclades Island, is sure to win your heart. Wild and mountainous, Amorgos is a stunning, protected island which has been used for many things including filming Le Grand Bleu. Following an unforgettable sailing experience opposite the Santorini caldera, Paros, renowned for its stunning white marble, offers a real concentration of Greek beauty, with its whitewashed houses, olive groves and ancient monuments. The serene atmosphere of this spiritual centre infuses its sumptuous scenery. The landscapes of Milos, between limestone cliffs and small confidential coves can be discovered in a soothing atmosphere. Between the Aegean Sea and the Ionian Sea, begin your trip by discovering the Peloponnese, the epitome of a mythical land. With your senses awakened, the scent of jasmine that embalms the island of Spetses - the favourite holiday spot of Athenians - will delight you, the picturesque beauty of the small port of Pylos, tucked against the green hills of Messenia, will captivate you, and the Italian influences of the charming Fiskardo, where visitors can savour the delicious Greek specialities called kreatopita, will enchant you. Like nowhere else on earth, Greece combines a fascinating history with the raw and spellbinding beauty of the Mediterranean shores. Impelled by the wind, a little further on you will discover the Ionian island of Paxos, where the Venetian architecture coexists alongside a natural environment featuring mountains and vast stretches of land planted with cypress and olive trees.

Sailing in the Bay of Kotor aboard Le Ponant and, while you are there, contemplating the last peaks of the Dinaric Alps encircling the fjord and then spotting Our Lady of the Rocks on the horizon is, without a doubt, one of the highlights of this cruise. The old town of Kotor awaits you to reveal its mysteries before you depart for Dubrovnik, where your Mediterranean cruise under Le Ponant's sails will draw to an end.

Fjords and glaciers of Spitsbergen

Somewhere in the High Arctic, between 76 and 80 degrees latitude North, Spitsbergen, meaning "pointed mountains", awaits you for seven days of unforgettable travel looking out for wild life.

You will lift the anchor in Longyearbyen, where colourful wooden homes dot the landscape with a human presence that will certainly be the last you see for a while.

The sea rolls on, and the white-striped mountains, which gave the region its name, rise up from deeply tinted waters. The polar light combines with the changing weather of the Arctic, a big blue sky, the horizon scattered with clouds, the enveloping mist erasing the border between the land and the sea: these variations all provide the magical, almost surreal, setting with new nuances.

The ship is escorted by Arctic fulmars. The first ice appears; still discreet, it seems to be dancing around you. At the end of a fjord, you will find yourself before an immense glacier. Black-legged kittiwakes share an iceberg, while Arctic terns fly over the area. Aboard the ship or a Zodiac dinghy, you will admire the power of nature while becoming aware of its fragility. The music of the thaw has begun its soft melody: a combination of cracking, roaring, murmuring and fizzing defies the silence of the polar desert.

On land, you will set foot on malleable earth, known as moraine. Only moss, lichen and a few rare flowers have managed to adapt and to take hold here, forming the tundra. On these inhospitable lands, Svalbard reindeer and Arctic foxes coexist with walruses, lying on the beach. It has been a long time since the Pomor settlers, of which traces remain, came to hunt them.

Here, the lord of the Arctic, the polar bear, is never very far away. The crucial aspects of this cruise involve searching and keeping an eye out. On board, the team of naturalists will scan the horizon so they can provide you with marvellous sightings of wildlife and, in particular, the polar bear. Baffin Bay secrets

PONANT invites you to set sail aboard Le Boréal for a memorable 14-day expedition cruise to the discovery of Baffin Bay. You will embark in Kangerlussuaq for an unforgettable journey in the heart of the most magnificent Arctic landscapes.

The first destination is the west coast of Greenland which will welcome you with its majestic icebergs, colourful villages encircled by mountains and its basalt formations. This is the ideal opportunity for meeting the local population and learning about Greenland Inuit culture.

Further north, Baffin Bay will reveal its remote villages of peat houses where the last bear hunters and narwhal fishers live in accordance with their ancestral traditions in the middle of the Arctic tundra. You will also see the remains of ancient Inuit civilisations and will discover Savissivik, the largest 'iceberg graveyard' in Greenland.

During the last part of your cruise, you will be able to enjoy really exploring Baffin Bay; you will look for the ice floe and try to spot polar bears. You will head south to reach Evighedsfjorden, which means the "eternity fjord" in Danish, where the landscapes made up of glaciers, tundra and jagged cliffs will help you end this journey on a high.

Discover the most beautiful and rugged landscapes on the Icelandic west coast during this spectacular 8-day voyage.

On the edge of the Arctic, between vast glaciers, vertiginous fjords, volcanoes, and boiling geysers, Iceland offers a kaleidoscope of wild landscapes.

You will board Le Bellot just outside Reykjavík, the world's northernmost capital city. With its houses with colorful roofs and its lake that is home to countless ducks, the city offers a picture-perfect setting.

At your first port of call, Isafjördur, explore Iceland's seafaring history at the Maritime Museum and enjoy a performance of traditional Icelandic folk songs performed by a group of local singers. Or visit the abandoned village of Hesteyri, a 19^th-centurty whaling community located along some of the most rugged landscape in the country.

Your ship will then reach Grímsey, a small, hard-to-reach island where, in certain places, the volcanic rock forms magnificent basalt columns. Sea birds such as guillemots and puffins reign here.

Le Bellot sails next for Akureyri, where an excursion to the otherworldly Lake Myvatn area offers the opportunity to explore the geothermal field of Namaskard to see mudpots, steam vents, sulfur deposits, boiling springs, and fumeroles.  Also see the spectacular Godafoss, the "Waterfall of the Gods." Alternatively, choose to relax in the thermal baths at Húsavík.

You will then discover the bay of Grundarfjördur, from where you may choose to explore the villages along the Snæfellsjökull glacier-capped volcano or embark on a whale watching excursion in search of orcas and humpback, minke, sperm, and pilot whales.

Call next on Heimaey, the only inhabited island in the Westman archipelago. Choose to explore the volcanic island, which is summer home to millions of seabirds. Or enjoy an exclusive visit the world's first Beluga Whale Sanctuary where you can view its two residents from a safe distance by boat.

End on the outskirts of Reykjavík, where you'll have the opportunity to travel the Golden Circle, consisting of three spectacular sights: Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall, and the Geysir Geothermal Area. Another option offers a second opportunity to go whale watching in search of humpback, minke, and sei whales.

Following in the wake of Frederick Cook, Robert Edwin Peary or Roald Amundsen, who were among the many who fought to achieve this elusive goal, you will be part of the chosen few ones to attempt the odyssey, 700 km (435 miles) from any land.

From Spitsbergen, you will head towards the north to sail the waters at the edges of the Earth, towards landscapes that change constantly according to the ice and the plays of light. Nature reigns supreme here, sheltering exceptionalwildlife that you will perhaps be lucky enough to see as your journey progresses: polar bears, seals or even whales! You will now sail towards the east of the Peloponnese, to reach your final port of call. Here, a gem named Hydra reveals its old-world charm in a stunning setting. With its hidden coves and its mountains topped with monasteries, this jewel of the Saronic Islands completely devoid of cars offers a total change of scenery against the spellbinding blue of the Aegean Sea.

You will cross the emblematic CorinthCanal to arrive in picturesque Galaxidi. You will fall in love with the authentic character of this town, encircled by captivating arid mountains and a sea front of unrivalled beauty, with its paved little streets edged with former neo-classical residences, remnants of the naval era, and sumptuous religious buildings.

Southern Italy promises suspended moments where the beauty of the shores combines with the beauty of its historical remnants, which remain fascinating. In Puglia, Gallipoli, meaning "beautiful town" in Greek, reveals its Hellenic origins and offers up its singular atmosphere, where life is good. Taormina, overlooking Etna's blanket of snow. Its streets will lead you to its famed ancient Greek theatre, where the quality of the acoustics is exceptional. In Syracuse, the Sicilian soul unfolds across the island of Ortygia - the oldest part of the city -, a maze of small streets dotted with churches, palaces, ancient remnants, sheltering a majestic cathedral in its very heart.
